Paper Tongues
Stone Words and Empty Hearts
Time spent waging wars with an arsenal of verbal assaults
Instead of holding hands and mending hearts
The spool of love has reached it's end
Breaking bends of irrefutable sins
Why do they pay the price for our mistakes
They didn't choose their path but the helpless ones must walk what we paved
Why champion invitations for illusion of reign
Antagonists naive of their inflicting pain
Unaware of the seeds of despair yet we toil the roots
Vines that grow and choke out our son's and daughter's truth
A quite chaos consuming,
Broken in silence with the words chosen
Smile, look alive, claiming you are better
Recklessness in your game of posturing,
Tearing down of ransoms for fear of losing
Protect your false empires,
Surrounding yourself with a masquerade of lies on fire
The distance makes it hard to breathe
The chasm of failing legacy
A temporary pain as your words carry blame
A liberty in being set free, no longer enslaved
Threads and fibers in replication
Won't let go easily
For the world is smaller than purpose
My heart may incur a flood from the hole you left
But my efforts will not suffer a defeating collapse
For angels are worth dying for
To prevent
All of your blindness,
All of your hatred,
Replace with all of your kindness
I hope you realize this
You have done enough to tear me down
Today, I stand so they won't fall.
