Loving one and holding another
What was it about the heart you
Were unable to bear
Living with wounds that run deep
In a revelation you have
No need for another
Cut off at the knees
Forever broken heart, pieces inside
Holding tight to false pretense
Of his false promises
Confessions in the dark take place
Of sweet pillow talk moments of surrender
Putting greatest fear in motion
Set aflame with burning disappointments
What was once thought to be a God given angel
To rectify all the men who could not reconcile the shortcomings of selfish entitlement
Today, a crossroads intercedes
Revealing that those were only childish and foolish dreams
Foolish hearts and deceiving minds
Desires to rewind paths to have never crossed that dark and slow moving turn that night
How do lovers hold hands of several
Kiss the lips of two
Whisper words of many
To share your life and body with her
Reveals your heart belongs only to transient ambition of selfish desires
Strumming at the chords of tattered heart strings
Sad songs of crushed tomorrows
A castle built in the sand
Washed away with the tides that could not be overcome
Sinking slowly to the high waters
Constructed words of no secrets, no lies
Fears of falling short
Became reality in a quick instance
Begging for forgiveness from a heart reluctant to give
Drink away the memories
Wash away the sin
When will the silence come
From all the noise and chaos within
When will the images stop tormenting me in these places of despair
Waking up alone is better than waking up in arms that hold another in unfriendly places
The cave is deep now with no light shining through
Bestowed by the lover that sleeps with another
Overturned leaves fall for the season's changing in place
Yet the sun is warm and light filtering through offering the only comfort from what was once a promising future
A once barren floor cluttered in disarray
For one lover's heart, Her body became the great exchange.
